I think the author definitely took her time intertwining the two stories, which made for a confusing first hundred pages, as it was unclear how the characters were connected. There was also a lot of foreshadowing that never amounted to anything such as when Raney meets David and he calls her 'Raney' despite her introducing herself as 'Renee'. The book culminated in an ending that left much to the imagination which I feel pretty indifferent about. I do wonder if some of the foreshadowing was intentional, trying to allow the reader to glean some hidden meaning from some of those items. I've made my own conclusions about what I think happened. I felt that the characters were fairly underdeveloped and I didn't feel connected to any of them. I did however, enjoy the style of the writing (especially the metaphors) and the story itself.
