Maus: A Survivor's Tale. My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegelman

5.0

As someone who read these comics after near 50 years after their publication, it baffles me how they had not seen the success coming straight to them (I am referring to the big splash that this book makes into the world, generally, and particularly in the comics genre, helping it to be properly addressed and almost brought up from the undergrounds).

I cannot say that this book was a pleause, because, even though matters of great substance are carefully treated through a lighter filter, the things that are playing beneath your eyes are weighing on you. The experience of Holocaust survivors and the imprint that their trauma left on their children echoes throughout the volume.
