I was hooked from the moment I picked up a copy of this essay collection, magically flipped to the Mountain Goats chapter, and teared up reading it where I stood in the memoir aisle of my local used bookstore. That particular couple of pages really resonated with me personally, but there are so many others that struck a chord as well. John Green’s writing is just so good—alternatingly funny, informative yet conversational, poetic, and poignant without being overly sentimental or corny. I can’t even begin to count the number of “did you know?” moments, or the amount of times I cried. This will live on my bookshelf for me to revisit for a long time to come.
