I just finished Dreams of Joy, the sequel to Shanghai Girls, both wonderful, well-written novels about Chinese American women. Lisa See has written the story of two resilient sisters and their loved ones. The easy to read detail has given me insight into Chinese culture, history and politics. The emotional content has helped heal me today of my own sorrow in a way that a good book does. This writer makes me want to read more of Amy Tan who influenced her. I highly recommend this book.
