A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
5.0

Five stars is not a high enough rating for this book. It is not often that I come across fiction that I can highly relate to, but that also affects me in a bone-deep, soul-wrenching manner. The title is perfect. A Little Life. Isn't that what we all have? One little life? This book is about everything and nothing all at once. What is the point of existing? Especially when one suffers so tragically and continuously? But yet we go on. We live every day the best we can, for as long as we can. This book would be an excellent read for anyone, for people who don't understand mental health, abuse, and the lifelong effects - but especially for those who do know it. Who can relate, know, and understand. A beautiful and profound novel. Many thanks to Ms. Yanagihara for giving life to Jude, and those who tried to love him.
