Iris, Vivi and Grey disappeared as children, only to turn up a month later with no memory of what happened to them. Over time their hair turned grey, their eyes black. When Grey the eldest goes missing again, Iris and Vivi are forced to confront their past, and return to where they went ten years ago...
House of Hollow absolutely blew my expectations out of the water. It was weird, and funny and so very gross. I loved every second of it. I absolutely devoured this over 48 hours, any minute I had spare, I was reading this completely messed up, but absolutely addictive book.
Even though this is technically young adult, it isn't for the faint hearted. Body horror takes a front seat, and I think the disgusting nature of this book is one of my favourite things about it... I don't know what that says about me, but I loved it ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
The characters were fantastic, I loved the main character Iris, but Vivi and Tyler were just hilarious. One thing I did not expect from this book was for it to make me laugh so much. I am a sucker for a horror book or movie that is full of hilarious one liners. I think it just breaks away from the bleak themes, and it always happened at the perfect time, just when I needed some comic relief.
So I'm probably going to be forcing this book on all of my friends that also love weird, and disgusting books. I read this alongside @littleredlibrary and @bristolianbooks, I can't wait to chat about it, there is a lot to unpack. And THAT ENDING?!? It was evil, and I really hope we are getting a second book because I need more of this๐ค๐ค๐ค
