Speak of the Devil by S.L. Scott
5.0
In true S.L. Scott fashion, this one hits hard in the best way. Her prose is often lyrical with some lines requiring a pause and a reread to absorb and appreciate. Cate is such a beautiful human being with a sweet, compassionate and gentle nature; it is delightful when her feisty side makes an appearance. Her defense mechanisms manifest as quirks which make her absolutely adorable with the understanding of their provenance but breaks your heart a little for her sake. Shane has a good heart but the rockstar life has skewed his priorities and he needs a reminder that the universe does not revolve around him. I love that Cate does not let herself get lost in his chaos and even at the cost of heartbreak she stays true to herself. When Shane realizes where his true priorities lie, he pursues his goal with a romantic focus that obliterates doubts and past hurts. A beautiful, high caliber read!!
