I don't re-read books often but this was a book club pick at work and it's been a bit since the first time I read it. It still packs quite a wallop the second time around. Zauner writes simply and directly about her experiences, her grief, her identity and how her mother is wrapped up in all of them, even after her death. Reading this book is a visceral experience. It makes me sad. It makes me hungry. It makes me think about my dad. It's at once incredibly personal, while also being exceedingly relatable. It's just a beauty of a book.
