Down the Nile: Alone in a Fisherman's Skiff
by Rosemary Mahoney
An interesting book, with wonderful insights into Egypt and Egyptians. I really enjoyed Mahoney's stories of ordinary Egyptians that she got to know, such as Amr and his sister. Her descriptions of the interactions between Egyptian men and female tourists rings very true. Her comparisons of her experiences with tourists from the 19th century were are first interesting and then became tedious. The ending seemed flat.
