The Chromatic Fantasy by H.A.

5.0

this was delightfully weird! a queer and specifically transmasc fever dream with absolutely gorgeous illustrations. this felt like a grown up ghibli movie for so many reasons - the preciseness of the hands, the intricately beautiful interiors and landscapes, the lushly detailed food spreads, the creatures, and the exploration of abuse and healing. the dialogue and pace of events was wacky but felt really familiar - it's fitting that this is in some ways a traditional fantasy world with magic and monarchy and fun outfits but there are also phones and cars that pop up with no explanation. i absolutely loved jules and casper and was rooting for them the whole time. it all fits together really well and made for a great complete experience - i would definitely read more from this author!
