The Secret Garden
by Frances Hodgson Burnett
"The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett tells the story of spoiled and lonely Mary Lennox, who discovers a hidden garden and forms a friendship with Colin Craven, a sickly boy who learns to embrace life. Although some of the book's language is outdated after 100 years, its central message about the healing power of nature, companionship, and self-belief remains true. The plot and characters are straightforward, yet the transformation of the children's hearts, minds, and spirits, as well as the garden's magic, are beautifully portrayed. It's a very short read that is charming with a nice ending.
