Meaty by Samantha Irby

3.0

I'd wanted something quick and fun to keep my mind off mortality and thought it was probably a good time to check out Samantha Irby (whose work was well-recommended by several reviewers I trust) chronologically.

I... really hope her next books are a lot better because this one was just kind of okay? Snarky, irreverent, witty and cutting in places, critical of men (who are idiots and slobs and can't make women cum. Feminism win!) (for legal reasons please know that was sarcasm), vulgar, but nothing I haven't really heard before or wasn't expecting to see. I did enjoy insight into life with Crohn's and I damn near sobbed at My Mother, My Daughter - I'd told my partners this book was a fucking SCAM for having something so heart-wrenching so early in the book, comedy my ASS - but everywhere else was eh.
