Not for the Faint of Heart by Lex Croucher
3.5

This was a delightful book to read, and Mariel, Clem, and the crew were all extremely vibrant. The greenwood was incredibly lively, and the questions about the Merry Men’s recent actions were interesting. That being said, outside of Mariel and Clem, I did not find any of the characters particularly complex. They were all fairly one-note, which made certain plot events less impactful. Moreover, I found the plot twist about Mariel’s parents not particularly efficacious, as the struggle between her parents was only briefly brought up towards the beginning of the novel.

As a book, this is one that I will probably return to in the future as a “comfort” reread, and I continue to be expected to read whatever Lex Croucher releases.
