This book was so hard to read, but also really important. There’s a lot of comments on this being too graphic and upsetting and I would agree it’s extremely upsetting - but the most upsetting thing is that this is so many people’s reality every day, and being uncomfortable reading about it is nothing compared to what those people go through in real life.
That being said - I did devour this book and absolutely fell in love with Hughie. What a gem of a boy. I don’t remember really feeling much about him in the other books but he’s just so lovely. And I actively disliked lizzie in the previous books so to get all her context was essential I think but sooooo heartbreaking. It also makes me want to re read the other books to read lizzie with this understanding of her story.
I do wish Hugh found out the truth in this book but I guess we’ll have to wait for that.
Final note - Chloe Walsh really knows how to write a villain because god dammit I hate Mark Allen. Crawling out of my skin hate.
Emotional damage - read with caution but enjoyed all the light in between the dark bits.
