I read this because this was our first semester literature selection for my 12th grader this year. I really enjoyed this book - I can fully understand why Lincoln referred to its author as 'the little lady that started the war'! It is very well written and easy to read - great if you want to study the time period before the civil war and to see how slavery effected everyone involved.
