Lies Sleeping by Ben Aaronovitch

4.0

In this volume, Peter Grant and other police associates continue to search for Leslie and the Faceless Man. I was preparing to be bored by this, the seventh instalment of the Rivers of London series, when in fact, it is one of the better novels. It skips over a lot of the repetition involved with setting up the world, assuming the reader has kept up, which I appreciate. Characters are growing and changing, learning from previous mis/adventures. We are also given a much more serious treatment of the mental health and trauma related to our characters than I recall previously. In relation to the plot, without giving much away, I enjoyed the delving into the deeper history of London and also the kidnapping bit.
