i support trans rights, and i support trans wrongs.
we have the right to be mediocre too!
while the plot was so interesting (!!!), i wish it was done differently. the dialogue is weird and appropriative (the author nor most of the characters are not Black, and yet the characters use AAVE-- it's not Gen Z slang, y'all!!), and the font size was really throwing me off. 
in any case, i have the second book on hold at my local library, and i'd like to see what direction this story goes in.

there's a boy character who kind of befriends Max and wants to teach him how to be a man, but he says some things that indicate his own internalized toxic masculinity. he means well but he also says stuff like "be a man!"
