I loved Inkheart and was very excited to read the sequel! The imagery of this book is wonderful and I love that we get a more in depth look at the ink world.

With that being said, this book does feel like it can drag on. We spend a lot of time in anticipation, of big fight scenes and other climatic moments. But I personally wish there would’ve been more time spent in the heat of action. I also wish that there was more focus on some of the older female characters and giving them more opportunities to lead, instead of focusing on unqualified men. But in the end it is the unqualified men with dumb ideas that continue to produce drama to write about. I like how in book that the story also reflects the author’s feelings and flaws. Thinking everything will be alright because he wants it to be and not fully considering the people he writes about. He’s got a little bit of superiority complex, which makes me dislike him but it makes sense since his imagination did create an entire universe. Overall it’s good and I would recommend to people that really loved Inkheart.
