Frayed Silk by Ella Fields

Sooooo this booookkk… it was pretty good. I finished it really quickly and the plot was really solid. I’m not gonna lie, I thought the book would have a little more dramatic ending with Jared, like the whole time I thought we was gonna go psycho killer on her from the way he is described. However, even though it didn’t happen I liked the juicy bits between him and Dahlia. I liked how they didn’t try to overdo her feelings for him if there were any. I was expecting her to fall instantly with him just because he showed her some attention. So I’m glad she didn’t, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to root for her and Leo. Also…Leooooooooo noooooo! I really didn’t see that coming with Fiona. Like there were many things I thought it was but the actual reveal was shocking, so the book had me there. Honestly the last 10 to 20% of the book did not need to be there. Once they decided on handling their relationship, the book should have ended. I breezed through 85 to 90% of the book easily but that last part was a struggle. It lost its foe and honestly felt like the author had a word count she needed to hit and just wrote whatever at the end. Especially the therapist scene, if we aren’t going to get the whole thing, we could have just been told he went to therapy and that’s it. I honestly didn’t care at that point because they were happy, there really wasn’t any drama to be had, and therefore this book lost a star. Other than that I recommend if you like the cheating trope, I haven’t read many books with this trope but this book does a good job of balancing how bad a situation is before it gets super toxic. I felt like the argument between the two was pretty logical and not too unbelievable.
