The Antique Hunter's Guide to Murder by C.L. Miller
3.0
A cosy mystery, set in the world of antiques. The author has done her research in that regard, but the novel itself, while a promising premise, doesn't quite deliver. There is allusion to Freya's previous life as an adventurous antique hunter, searching in exotic locales for treasure. There is reference to Arthur's mentorship, a whirlwind in Cairo, a life that was very different to Freya's current existence. Even Aunt Carole sounds like she has a potential mysterious past - however, these plot points are not used to advantage. The novel tries a bit hard to do too much rather than focus on one key detail. It was a decent read, not the worst of its kind, but also not the best. I would probably get the next one from the library.
