I wish I had read Julius Caesar first, just for more context on the triumvirate and Cleopatra's history pre-Marc Antony. Lesson learned.
I generally liked Cleopatra's tempestuous nature and Antony's inability to act in anything other than his own self-interest. Very interesting portrayal of historical figures. Octavius Caesar's final words, "...their story is / No less in pity than his glory which / Brought them to be lamented..." really show that the love was as epic as it was doomed.
