Blame it on the Champagne
by Fiona Cole
Rating: 3 stars
What I Liked: I thought the style of writing of this book was enjoyable and engaging. The story had some interesting ideas and managed to keep my attention.
I thought the central romance was very strong, they had good chemistry and some really sexy scenes together I thought the marriage of convenience element worked quite well in the story.
I enjoyed the angst towards the end. The revenge plotline worked better than I thought it would and I enjoyed seeing how it played out.
What I Didn’t: I found the two main characters a little off. I found Verana a little bland, although I did sort of like her and how she reacted to things, but Nico was quite annoying for a lot of the book.
Overall: It was mostly an enjoyable contemporary romance with some well-written sex and angst, but there were a couple of choices regarding the heroes actions that were off-putting.
Would I Recommend It?: Yes, if you want a sexy contemporary romance with a marriage of convenience and revenge plotline.
Would I Read Something By The Author Again?: Yes.
Content Warnings:Sexual assault (against heroine from male side character), violence (against heroine by her father), dementia.

He was far too pushy at some points and once they were married he did some things that I thought were very inappropriate and uncomfortable, such as joining her in the shower when she asked him not to. It was a bit jarring because he had such an emphasis elsewhere on her safety and comfort - not wanting her to be with Camden, trusting her business sense, wanting her to do be safe from the machinations of her father, and so on. It just felt out of place, the sort of possessive alpha vibe that came with those scenes. It was off-putting.Overall: It was mostly an enjoyable contemporary romance with some well-written sex and angst, but there were a couple of choices regarding the heroes actions that were off-putting.
