I just didn’t care for this book. I don’t think it was badly written nor did I find it offensive in any way but I could not get into it for the life of me. During the last hundred pages I skimmed any and all descriptions of places or people just to push through. And this must be how I felt the last time I attempted this book because I remembered zero things from my last read. So either it was not at all memorable or I gave up.

The main character is fine enough though she seems to muddle by through luck. But her romantic interests are boring and have no chemistry with her. The ploy line is a snore. The villain is boring.

Weirdly I’ve read many reviews complaining about the side characters like the Berry sisters or the woodsman and that’s when I’ve been most interested in the book.  It’s when the book felt coziest and most fun. Ah well. Not continuing with this series.
