I never finished the Snow Like Ashes series because I just couldn’t get into it. I wasn’t a big fan of Sara’s writing in but I decided to give The Rebel Waves a chance.
I’m glad I did because this book was way more enjoyable to me. I loved the characters, the diversity, the modern day problems in an ancient world. The character development was pretty good, I like that some of the characters refuse to let go of some of their previous beliefs. I like that because too many books just completely change their characters in a few pages and that is just not realistic to me. Development takes time and I like that Raasch has kind of drawn it out a little.
One of the only things I did not like was the names, some people had such complicated and long names that it was just wasn’t even worth it to know what they were. You could barely pronounce most words of the names and even some of the places. Other than that, very enjoyable and I love the twists in it. There were two plot twists that I was not expecting at all and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
