An absolutely incredible read and an easy 5 stars from me. I was hooked the entire way through. The writing painted such clear pictures, which only served to add to a plot that held my complete attention. I loved the writing bouncing back and forth from the murder-mystery and Kya's growing up.
My heart hurt for Kya so many times, but I feel like the ending brought that "against all odds" feeling I was hoping for. Watching her navigate abandonment, isolation, and survival, was emotional. I found myself rooting for her every page. Her creation and recreation of love was raw and heartbreaking at times. Each character felt so thought through and necessary in their own regard and in how they added to Kya's overall story.
I'm pretty sure this book will stick in my brain until I eventually find myself rereading it.
I just wish we got the HOW!!!
