Heart of Night
by Angelina J. Steffort
Heart of Night is the second book in the Wings of Ink series by Angelina J. Steffort is set in a fantasy world where politics and treachery rule. The vivid, captivating main character of Ayna is a human who has been gifted and then stripped of her magic when her beloved Myron is killed. She is sent on an adventure back to where she was raised and learns the truth about her past, her present and her future. Magic, secrets and personal agendas accompany Ayna throughout the story, leaving the reader not quite sure the whole truths about the motives of each of the characters. Ayna is strong, smart, determined, yet vulnerable. With constant trust issues, Ayna discovers that there are people you can trust, and possibly die for! I love her character, and her constant inner monologue. It allows the reader to see inside her head, and lets you think along with her as she constantly uncovers more about what she believes to be the truth. Strong details of the fantasy world are built to engage the reader and I was kept fully immersed from start to finish. I loved the story, the twists and turns, and the relationships that develope along the way. No spoilers in this review - but trust me, you will be most happy you join the adventure!
