I found Rescue Me really hard to rate. Not because it wasn't good (it really was), but because it wasn't what I was expecting, having read books from this publisher before. I was expecting a sweet romance between the vet and the neighbor. And there was a very sweet romance between the two. 

I found the book hard to rate because of the overarching emphasis on Mitchell's

abusive

ex-boyfriend, who

stalks

both Mitchell and Beau, while going so far as to

poison sweet little Randi

. I found that the

stalking

took away from the romance and that the romance took away from the heart-pounding, page-turning thriller that this book could have been.
