Can you take it?

Well this is fucking disappointing. I called it though. This is an Eli book through and through. That would have been fine if this was the same Eli from the previous books. Eli being Seelie makes him kinder and more compassionate but he was also so confident and sure of himself. He also was never a bumbling idiot. The guy dies and goes to the underworld and he’s a totally different person. All his confidence is gone. He is so fucking awkward. And he can’t talk to a girl without tripping over his words and word vomiting.
I’ve made it through 5 chapters and nothing has freaking happened. Eli is too busy trying to fight “the itch” which means he has to do something he wouldn’t ever do before he goes crazy. He’s seelie.. that can be pretty much anything. He had a mission and it doesn’t seem very important to him or the book at the moment.
We got one chapter with Cal and Mendax, but it’s just of Cal puking non stop (gross and the amount of times it occurred in the singular chapter is unnecessary),complaining about how she’s going to be a bad mom , and still being more heartbroken over her dead friend than being happy to have Mendax when it could have easily been him instead. I was really hoping she would come around and finally show this man some fucking love but no.. she’s still too preoccupied thinking about Eli. I’m glad Mendax said something about it, because enough.. respect the man you say you love. It’s also super fucking weird to have hoped you conceived your child with Mendax in the cave because you want Eli to have been part of it happening. HUH?! Can’t even keep your baby just something special between you and Mendax?!
The formatting on Kindle is bothersome. When there’s dialogue, the lines aren’t broken by character speaking. There are whole paragraphs where one character is speaking followed immediately on the same line another character speaking. It makes it so hard to follow who is talking and when.
Lastly, the tone and speech of these characters have completely changed. All the fae in previous books had a tone of nobility. Now everyone is talking like humans in the 21st century.
This whole series has devolved and the continuity is severely lacking.
