Twisted Love
by Ana Huang
Ok... I'm confused. I loved and couldn't stand some parts of this book... Like Alex was hot and messed up until I was shook with him singing...
I'll be honest. I looked this book up 0% before reading it, just hearing all the booktok girlies hype it up. It's giving me a new found ick with 21-22 year olds with 26-27 year olds, but like the older brother's best friend makes it less bad somehow, so I got over it... plus he's a rich hot cranky genius, I get the appeal. The brooding cranky man stuck with the human equivalent of sunshine? YES. The pining and sexual tension and the game? The protective outbursts and possessive vibe there? YES. The lying DEF had me reading faster to see when he would eventually admit he fucked up... to see what would happen next, DUH, why wouldn't he push her away? Makes perfect sense... but once we hit a time jump of 2 months then another 2.5 months... like my man... I get you thought you would "heal" but like damn.... then 6 months to show up and keep trying? I had less of a problem with the actions and more of the timeline. The singing part took me out tho... like obviously he would be good because duh it's him and he is apparently good at everything, but like I still said EW out loud. Sure I get the emotion behind it and everything, but still, you're telling me this man was SINGING and he still remained an emotional tight-ass with a BDSM kink till the end? Ok... and the banging in the art gallery, out of all places where they banged, made me make a face.
I'm glad she didn't immediately forgive him like I thought she would, but that ending seemed slightly out of place. I know there are twists added in to allow for other books in a series but like... idk this didn't live up to the hype I thought it had in my head. Will I read all the books? YES, because the writing was on the damn walls with Bridget and Jules and I need to see that play out, but idk... I hope they are a little better than this one.
