The 57 Bus: A True Story of Two Teenagers and the Crime That Changed Their Lives by Dashka Slater
4.0
Yes- I read this in one day!
This is such an important book that validates the stories of two teens of marginalized groups. I love that this was written in a newslike format, with non biased approaches to validating the stories and backgrounds of both individuals involved. Dashka Slater is very talented at ‘world-building’; I feel fully immersed into the setting of Oakland, CA, and the experiences of all people in the book add to this world. I learned a lot, was extremely angry at most of the details recounted, and I will not forget anything about this book for a very long time.
