I was worried this book wouldn’t live up to the hype, especially where so many said it didn’t. However it hooked me from the start.
Violet and Xaden definitely have some things to work out in this one, and the complexities of relationships are as frustrating for the reader as they are for the characters but they also felt real.
There are some really challenging moments in this book - definitely be aware of trigger warnings - and there’s a whole lot of drama. But then again, when it comes to humans there’s always drama. Adding a war doesn’t change that in the slightest.

Word of warning, if it’s been a bit since reading fourth wing, definitely brush up on events and names. Iron Flame pulls you straight into the action and there’s little time for a refresher.

I could barely put this book down, and while I’m quite frustrated with the ending - I’ll be waiting for the third with bated breath.
