Poster Girl by Veronica Roth

5.0

I LOVED THIS! I loved dystopian fiction when I was younger but stopped becaause I didn't know of any for adults. This adult version is not as rich as the OG series but great nontheless.

Sonya is in jail, basically, for being the face/ poster girl of the old regime. One day she gets an offer from the new government: find a missing girl, and obtain her own freedom. Throughout the book, she grapples with admitting that she did harm and also realizes that this new government isn't what it seems. There's a lot of emotional war versus the physical struggles of some younger dystopian series. Sonya changes completely as a person from the beginning to the end of the book. There's romance, government conspiracy, and a lot of coming-of-age/ adulthood themes.

I think this is a great book for anybody who used to read dystopian fiction, although you might be disappointed by how short it is and the lack of lush world-building and conflict.
