4 stars for a book about a quirky heroine. Molly is a very conscientious, but eccentric, maid at a luxury boutique hotel in a large city. She is rather naive. She was raised by her recently deceased grandmother because her parents deserted her. When her grandmother was alive, Molly could go to her for an explanation of people's statements and/or facial expressions. But now Molly, who is 25, is on her own, and she has trouble judging people who might be friendly or take advantage of her.
She is cleaning a room that she thought was empty, since no one responded to her knock and "Housekeeping" announcement. But she discovers Mr. Black dead in his bed.
She is a suspect in his suspicious death. How this mystery is resolved makes for a pleasant cozy mystery with no other deaths. Also, there is no sex or bad language.
The hotel is called the Regency Grand, and the city is never identified.
This was a library display book. Every year I participate in my library's summer reading club, which has prizes. Participants are given a bingo sheet. When you complete a square, you get a ticket which you can put in various raffle boxes. One of the squares was "Read a display book."
