The Bad Ones by Melissa Albert

3.0

This book was extremely slow and took a really long time for the story to pick up. The ending felt lackluster, especially with the connection of Ms. Ekstrom's past and the present disappearances. How is it that tons of people have been murdered in this town and nobody has been suspected or has been concerned? That's pretty crazy.

Also I like how the ending is like "omg Becca and Nora survived demonic possession and got away with killing a bunch of people!!" as if that's not going to absolutely destroy their mental states lol. Just got away with murder with my bestie!!! And her hair is now white and she's growing a new set of teeth! (what? why did this happen lol, did the demon merge with her soul now?? lol)

I wish the supernatural element was actually explained more, because it felt like it just...existed, like an ever-present being but not really any understanding as to why it is terrorizing this town. Especially with Patty Dean being a big part of the supernatural element but in reality she wasn't that important??? Okay whatever I think I am thinking too much into this.

I didn't really care for the romance but I do like the name James! I also enjoyed seeing more into Nora and Becca's relationship, but I cannot understand for the life of me why they would keep playing that ridiculous goddess game. I think the prose was good, too! I'm interested in reading other books by this author.
