Henderson allowed her characters to let the intrusive thoughts win, and what came of it was a macabre, dark academia masterpiece that readers who loved Lev Grossman’s The Magicians series (the books, not the bloody show) will rally behind.
This is hands down one of the greatest books to come out of 2024, and will undoubtedly be a book I return to read every October to get the dark academia (as it is truly intended to be) fix.
Please note readers: trigger warnings for mental health and wellness.
