I totally enjoyed the political marriage, friends to lovers trope and enjoyed the easy feel good nature of this book, but this book kind of went nowhere.
If the main focus is going to be the relationship, then you usually expect some form of conflict or tension or something in how it develops, and this just didn’t have that (besides thinking each other were ugly and then eventually getting over it.) They just sort of liked and respected each other from day one, eventually went to bed together without too much internal monologuing about it and that’s that.
There was some political intrigue / battle plot stuff in the background but it wasn’t nearly enough of a focus to be compelling as the main driving conflict.
