Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto

Bruh. I am wrecked. WRECKED.

Rare is it that a book will have me yell so loudly about my hatred of a character that the neighbors hear it. Rarer still does that book somehow... make that character likable?

I laughed. I cried. I despaired. I YELLED. This book was a DELIGHT. My little fantasy-hungry heart is upset I didn't lay my grubby hands on it sooner.

The characters felt real and believable - both likable and unlikable to an extreme (Tristan is my little cinnamon bun boi and I will burn the earth five times over should any harm ever come to him!!!). It utilized every single overdone fantasy trope... and did it so WELL. I always say tropes are tropes for a reason and this book really demonstrated why people keep coming back to oppressed magical humans and girls disguising themselves as a boy over and over again. And the plot... *chef's kiss* I really enjoyed the multiple timelines and seeing how things came together in a lil package at the end.

**praying to the publisher gods that I can get my hands on an ARC of the sequel before its released**
