Weathering with You by Makoto Shinkai

2.0

I FEEL THAT the story falls flat without the emotions expressed through motion-picture.

This review came after watching Suzume and puzzling over the story. Here's my conclusion: Makoto Shinkai makes insanely good films, playing with aspects of sound and visuals with a combination of an easily digestible story that you can easily empathize with.

This easily digestible story that you can easily empathize with loses its power without that gripping sound design and mind-blowing visuals.

The movie is good; the story is also nothing to scoff at.
But when words are your only media, you've got little to work with.
