The Dollmaker of Krakow by R.M. Romero

A fantasy about a magical doll, the doll maker who brought her to life, and the people they love and try to save during the Holocaust. It took me about a quarter of the way in to really get into this story and then it turned out to be a sad and somber historical fiction... told from the POV of a doll brought to life. I think your upper elementary fans of Holocaust kidlit fiction will reflect and connect with that time in history through this story.
