I Was a Teenage Slasher by Stephen Graham Jones
4.0
I sat with this book for a day to see if I could figure out how to write a review. I can't. There is something about SGJ's writing where I constantly feel lost.
What I know:
Tolly is a slasher, he says it 700 times. I think that was a point. I think it was meant that Tolly himself couldn't quite believe it, so he repeatedly says it. But honestly, I'm not sure.
Tolly and peanut butter don't mix.
All Slashers have a final girl.
Even though I wasn't rooting for Tolly like is expected, I didn't particularly like him, I still think this book is 3-4 stars, somewhere in the middle. So, I am rounding up to 4.
That atmosphere is cool, 1989 is cool, and the starting point of this book was great set up. I can't tell you too much of what happened in the middle because I kind of spaced, but the ending was good.
IDK should you read it, it's weird. That for me is usually enough.
