Rowling may be considered a devoted pupil of both Roald Dahl and J.R.R. Tolkien. Love, friendship, self-understanding, coming-of-age, the nature of good and evil--I don't think there's one universal theme that escapes Rowling's vivid imagination and compassionate pen. And she does it all with humor, drama, and wit. Most impressive is Rowling's ability to create rich characters, death-defying situations, and a whole new landscape--in short, a fully realized world (complete with its own lexicon/language)--to which the reader easily (and eagerly) assimilates. These seven thrilling books are worth all the worldwide acclaim heaped upon them, and will be read for the ages.
