Wildthorn by Jane Eagland
2.0

I really enjoyed it, but I do wish there had been less telling and more showing. Certain scenes (no spoilers) would have been much more powerful if Eagland had focused on Louisa's feelings instead of on the "action". It's very fast-paced and keeps you reading, which is a feat in itself, but a little more introspection, more attention to detail (it is set in the Victorian era, but other than patriarchal sentiment, a horrid asylum, and carriages, there is little that gives the story a Victorian 'feel') and more extensive character development would've made the story so much better.
