American Gods by Neil Gaiman

omg this is so good, splendid, and paradigm-shifting <3333

An expansive, complex, and mindblowing novel: it explores about all of the intricate human themes reanging from divinity, identity, and belongings - to love and loss. With its interplay between illusions, roadtrips, disappearances, and old/new way of thinking the novel fleshes out what makes America American; the essence of America. There's quite a lot going on in this author preferred version and a lot of smaller substories that meanders between but it was ultimately a very rewarding read as everything (the central themes being mentioned) converges very densely in the thrilling conclusion. And this is just on the thematic aspect of the book.

This is also a story of self-discovery. The character development is excellent - even amongst the minor characters who appeared just a few times / only in the interludes. It's absolutely divine!

In a nutshell: This is excellent thematically, characteristically, and technically. Anyone who wants a reckoning should read it now!!
