I read this book in high school and I remember it being a bit graphic and like I probably shouldn't have been reading it. I'm glad I read it again. The Color Purple movie is one of my favorite movies of all time, but the book just offers a but more depth and detail that the movie wasn't able to provide within the running time.
The women in this book were so layered and strong who were just trying to live their life like they wanted to without disdain from anyone. I just really love and admire the characters for that.
