The Janus Stone
by Elly Griffiths
After really enjoying The Crossing Places, this is the book that really made me excited to read the entirety of the Ruth Galloway series. I loved the way it wove in the Roman history along with the more modern history of the children’s Catholic home. I loved the interactions between Ruth and Nelson (I was laughing out loud at their conversation regarding baby names). I thought it was interesting that Ruth was pregnant after the first book. Judy Johnson starts to emerge as one of the best supporting characters here. It did involve more child murder and Ruth stupidly kept going by herself places when she knew she was in danger, but mostly I loved it.
