Two things that will always creep me out is doppelgangers and alternates, and I feel like this story really hit the nail on the head.
I remember laying in bed at night, reading this, and being absolutely creeped out, scared that I was going to start hearing the same thing.
4 instead of 5 bc the ending was a little weird, but I still love this.
Spoilers ahead:
So, here's the thing. The hollow man was obsessed with Faye bc she repressed the trauma of her brother being a still born when she was 5. I feel like, at 5, you wouldn't completely understand death, or it wouldn't have impacted you so much that you repressed it so hard that you forget it ever existed. When I was about 4, my mom had a miscarriage and I have absolutely no recollection of that at all. Of course, everyone is different, but the ending just didn't seem relatable to me.
