Made it to page ~150/250 and I'm over it. Very Eurocentric perspective with very little nuance or authoritative research/referencing to back up claims. The book is told like a series of random anecdotes, some of which are of course interesting, most of which you've probably heard of before, and none of which have an underlying narrative threat that would make this a good read. I just was not convinced and did not enjoy the narrative tone. A lot of sweeping statements and reductionism going on here. Overall, not what I was looking for.
