The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery

5.0

“If you can sit in silence with a person for half an hour and yet be entirely comfortable, you and that person can be friends. If you cannot, friends you'll never be and you need not waste time in trying.”

I loved this book so much that I read it again immediately. And now that's it has been about a month since that reading, I might go ahead and read it again. I love it.

Original Review
"When he said good evening you felt that it was a good evening and that it was partly his doing that it was."

If there is ever any book to give me a book hangover, this is it. It's so beautifully written, with LMM's signature descriptions of nature and the subtleties of life. It also has a relatable and likable main character in Valancy. Experiencing her story along with her makes you feel as if your own life is changing too. The romance is also sweet and so, so well done. Why can't more romance novels be like this? This is a romance I want to read.

This might become my favorite LMM, though beating out Rilla of Ingleside is a difficulty. Either way, this is a new favorite and one I am sure I will revisit again and again in future.
