Peanut Jones and the Illustrated City by Rob Biddulph

4.0

This is a rather lovely book. The story is cute and fun, the characters are engaging and the illustrations are fabulous.

As the story is all about drawings that come to life, the pictures are essential to the story. There is a consistent colour scheme throughout the book, which is visually brilliant, if occasionally disconcerting when the text describes something as blue or green which appears brown in the illustration! There is also one double page spread which has black text on a dark grey background - very hard to read.

Overall I found this charming, and will definitely get hold of the sequel when it comes out.
