The Tokyo Zodiac Murders
by Soji Shimada
3/5
Don’t get me wrong, it was very clever, but I don’t think the overall format of the book was great.
The way the mystery pans out (and this is not a spoiler), the investigating our narrator is doing during the middle portion of the book leads absolutely nowhere, after which we are directly told the only clues that are relevant to the mystery were told to us in the first act.
This just makes half of the book feel irrelevant, and slowed the pace down.
Clever mystery though, and I wouldn’t mind revisiting these characters
